Frequently asked questions
Listed below are the questions most frequently asked by website visitors, and our
answers. If these do not answer your question, please visit our contact us page.
If your advice is free, how can you be making any profits?
The mortgage broking industry works through a commission system - lenders pay brokers
a commission for every loan they settle with them. Our profits come from a portion of this
commission amount.
If brokers are paid commissions by lenders, what's to stop them from just recommending the lenders who pay the highest commissions?
Our brokers are bound by a strict code of conduct to always act in an honourable and responsible manner. This code
also requires that they notify the client of the sum of all commissions paid to them by the lender.
For more information about our brokers, visit the accreditations and mortgage brokers pages.
Why do you donate so much of your profits to charity?
We believe in environmental responsibility coupled with sound mortgage advice -
we also realise that the burdens placed on homeowners by their mortgages can make
it difficult to support the environment as much as they'd like to. For more information
about our vision and motivation, visit our
about us page.
Why should I use a broker when I can "cut out the middle man" and go directly to
the lender?
Firstly, a broker's services are free - they're paid a "finder's fee"
by the lender. There are many advantages to using a mortgage broker:
- Brokers have access to more products than are publicly available over the counter
- With the advanced tools supplied by
National Mortgage Brokers, our brokers are able to directly compare all products
available from their panel of over 30 lenders, and find the most appropriate product for you
- Our brokers are not affiliated with any particular lenders, so they will always
find the best product available from our lender panel
These are just a few of the advantages of using a Green Choice Mortgages broker.

you.
